Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator

Considered one of the most versatile tools in the treatment of cancer, the Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator is housed at the USC Norris Cancer Hospital and is designed to treat patients with all stages of cancer with increased accuracy and precision.

Considered the current state-of-the-art in linear accelerators and the first clinically viable system for delivering all forms of external-beam radiation therapy, the Varian accelerator enables USC physicians to choose and use the most appropriate treatment method for treating cancer and to deliver the full spectrum of treatments, all on one machine and in a single room.

Because certain types of tumors can change position inside the body, even on a day-to-day basis, the Varian accelerator uses image-guiding technology to search out and destroy the tumor. Given its capability of rotating around the patient, The Varian accelerator can also deliver radiation at nearly any possible angle, allowing for directed treatment at the precise location of the tumor while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue unharmed.
